Adding a calendar entry using the My Calendar system

Your website features a calendar system that can display a different calendar of events on different pages.

If a parent just wants to see term dates, there’s a calendar for that. If they just want to see events specific to a certain class, there’s a calendar for that. If they just want to see which clubs are on, there’s a calendar for that too!

Regardless of which calendar you want your date to show on, they are all entered in the same way. The only difference is which Calendar Category you choose (similar to how we choose categories for posts).

Adding a date to the calendar

  • From the dashboard go to: My Calendar > Add Event
  • In Event Title give your date a name (e.g. ‘PD Day’ or ‘Harvest Festival’)
  • In the large Event Description box you can write more about your event (Certain dates such as PD days need no description, but for other events such as residentials you can use this space for valuable information such as kit lists or to add copies of letters that you may have sent out about the event)
  • The Excert box can hold a few lines summarising the event that may show in certain pre-view areas of the site.
  • Categories – this is the important one. Your choice of category will determine which calendar your event will appear on. Diary Dates is the default.
  • Date and Time. This is where you tell the system when your event happens. The date selection works in the same way as most online calendar systems.
  • Repartiton Pattern  – this allows you to set a repeat of an event. For example, you can use it for repeating weekly clubs.
  • Featured Image – not used in this calendar system currently but images can be added to the event description box.
  • Publish – Once you’ve entered all your date information, click Publish.
